October 2010

Three cameras are operating and have been since August.  The remaining four cameras will be installed when the building extensions are completed.

July 2010

The cameras are being installed and will be operational by mid-August.

May 2010

On 11 May 2010 Councillors approved an internal report recommending CCTV cameras be installed in Bowen Mountain Park.

The survey outcome was 167 for and only 7 against.

The report recommended a 6 months trial.  The Park Management Committee (BMPMC)has not indicated when work will recommence (it was stopped last September by resident action) but an announcement is expected soon.

The report made no mention of the number of cameras to be installed but it is understood there will be seven cameras including a 360o rotating camera covering part of the grounds.

The Council report stated that Bowen Mountain Park was not a highly vandalised park but that the committee (BMPMC) wanted to reduce the number of such attacks.   The BMA has been advised of only one this year.

At this stage the Bowen Mountain Association does not have a policy position on the cameras with Management opinions being evenly divided ,however we will be watching the trial with interest.

APRIL 2010

Council has posted Survey forms to all reatpayers of Bowen mountain.   The form is also available on Council's Web Site and can be submitted on-line.   All residents, that is, individual members of households, whether owners or tenants, are entitled to vote.  The BMA encourages you to respond to let Council know how you feel about CCTV cameras being installed in your park.

February 2010

Council Votes on CCTV Cameras

The Council meeting of 2 February 2010 voted to  develop a policy for the whole of the Hawkesbury on the use of CCTV cameras on Council properties and  managed public spaces.

Council will also undertake a survey of residents of Bowen Mountain to ascertain our feelings on the possible installation of CCTV cameras in Bowen Mountain Park.
