Community Room Extensions
December 2010
The new building works were completed in time for Christmas in the Park but due to the inclement weather and the possibility of more in the days prior to the 11 December event, the Social Sub-Committee made a decision to cancel the event so as not to incur expenses which could not be recouped as well as the more important reason of the comfort and well being of families attending the event.
November Update
There is much local interest in the progress being made with the Community Room extensions. Visitors to the park have expressed their surprise and satisfaction with the speed of construction. The contractors, John and Bob are to be congratulated on their attention to detail and their determination to complete their obligations on time.
Once they are finished a team of volunteers will commence painting the interior. A decision will be made on the floor covering supplier ( the floor will be a commercial grade vinyl to Council specification) and paving will be reinstated. The works will be finished by 30 November as planned.
We are obtaining quotations for replacing the kitchen, however that may not become a reality for some months as there are not quite enough funds to cover that cost. There is still time to Buy a Brick . Your contribution will ensure we have a new kitchen by April; 2011.
October Update
The building works commenced in ernest on Tuesday 5 October 2010. Local contractor, John Bathgate and his partner, Bob Johanson, provided the most competitive quotation. The concrete slab floor was poured on Friday 8 October. The boys are making good progress.
The completion target of November 30 will still be achieved. All enquiries concerning hiring of the new Community Room after completion of the works should be directed to
